TEFL Certification Course: Questions & Answers

1) Many companies offer online TEFL Certification courses that cost much less than an in-class TEFL Certification course. Why are the prices so different for in-class and online courses? Do you receive the same certification?

 Answer:

The main difference between the online TEFL course and the in-class TEFL Certification course is that the in-class course includes observed teaching practice (OTP), therefore is regarded much higher by potential employers and is considered more prestigious.

Although the in-class TEFL Certification program is more expensive, it provides students with classroom teaching experience with real students. TEFL trainees receive a lot of valuable help planning lessons and expert feedback from our instructors. This feedback will ultimately help them to become better teachers and provide trainees with the confidence they need to teach in class the first time.

Online courses offer the flexibility of being able to study remotely and the cost of the online course is lower, but the downside of the online course is the lack of teaching practice.

This can become an issue, especially for your first teaching job, because most employers would prefer to hire an ESL teacher with the real teaching experience.

So when making a choice between an online TEFL Certification Course and a 4-week in-class intensive TEFL Certification Course, please consider that most a employers would prefer their teachers to have in-class training (as opposed to online training).

2) How many hours does this TEFL Certification course offer? Also, will the certificate state TEFL only as opposed to TESOL?

After completing the course, you will receive a 120-hour TEFL / TESOL Certificate. Observed teaching practice (OTP) is included in our in-class TEFL  / TESOL Certificate Training Program.

3) I speak fluent English, but I am not a native speaker. I am from Mexico and have a foreign accent. Can I become an ESL teacher?

Answer:

Your employability really depends on the employer, the country and what type of an accent you have. In most countries the demand for qualified ESL teachers is high. It's not too difficult to find an ESL teaching job as long you have suitable qualifications, perform well in an interview and are eligible for a working visa in the country where you are going to teach.

4) If I plan to take the TEFL course, do I have to have a college degree?

Answer:

5) How much does this in-class TEFL course cost?

Answer:

The total cost of the course is $1890. It includes $50 non-refundable registration fee, $200 deposit and $1640 course fee.

To reserve their seat in the course students are required to pay a $50 registration fee and a $200 deposit (online, by credit card or a check).

If they are not accepted into the program, they will receive a $250 deposit and registration fee refund.

6) Is it difficult to find an ESL teaching job? What countries need ESL teachers?

Answer:

Qualified ESL teachers are in demand in the US and in many other countries, such as: Spain, Poland, Russia, China, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Japan, Argentina, Turkey and many others.

Register online and pay a $50 non-refundable registration fee online

STEP 2
After you register online and pay a $50 registration fee take a 15-min online ESL Test.

STEP 3
Pay $200 deposit to reserve a seat in the course. If applicants are not accepted into the program, they will receive a $250 (deposit and registration fee) refund.

STEP 4
